Dream World should reopen by mid-January after it was closed due to a massive floods in Pathum Thani province since last October, reports Amusement Creation Company Limited managing director, Amphol Suthiphein.

Mr Amphol told TTR Weekly on Tuesday that the clean-up and repairs at the theme park should be finished in time to resume business by mid of January, but all the rides will need to be tested first.

"Floods started to recede earlier this month," said Mr Amphol. "The biggest damage was to landscaped gardens, flowers, garden decorations, parking lots and roads in the park," he added.

When asked about safety concerns, he said: "Luckily we are on high land so machines were not affected by the flood as much as the support cables that were under water for months."

Dream World lost around Bt150 million in revenue and repairs will cost Bt30 million to get theme park functioning.

With a little luck the theme park should open in time to catch the holiday crowds that celebrate Children’s Day on the second Saturday in January.

Only 30% of its visitors are foreigners mainly from Russia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. India is emerging market, while China, Taiwan and Hong Kong are the top suppliers.

Located in Thanyaburi district, Pathum Thani province, it was under water for more than six weeks as were hundreds of housing estates and factories in the same area.
