VIENTIANE, 21 July 2011 – Lao Airlines has resumed services from Luang Prabang to Xishuangbanna in China’s Yunnan province and plans to start a service from Vientiane to Singapore this November.

Lao Airlines is serving the Luang Prabang-Xishuangbannan route twice weekly, on Friday and Sunday, using an ATR72-500 aircraft. Initially, the service will be in the timetable until 31 December, when it will come under review.

The airline also confirmed it will use a leased Airbus A319 to launch a new service to Singapore from its Vientiane base, 1 November, offering three weekly services on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

QV535 will depart Vientiane at 1420 and arrive in Singapore at 1820, while QV545 will depart Singapore at 1930 and arrive in Vientiane 2130.

According to 2010 statistics released by Lao National Tourism Administration, 6,087 Singaporeans visited the country mainly connecting with either TG or Lao Airlines services out of Bangkok, while 161,854 Chinese visited the country on the two airlines flying between Kunming and Vientiane.
