MOUNT PHOUSI – SUNSET IN LUANG PRABANG

On top of the famous Phousi Mountain has a narrow platform where is the location of a small Buddhist temple and a golden stupa. The golden stupa, That Chomsi, is constructed on a white painted rectangular base, by the Laos King Anourat in 1804.

On the way to reach the top of Mount Phousi, you can see many golden colored Buddha statues displaying different posture, including meditation, alms giving, calling for rain mudra… About half way up to the top located a small grotto shrine called the Wat Tham Phousi, where holding a lot of Buddha images. It features a big-bellied statue and a reclining Buddha image.
