Myanmar joins ITE awards

The 3rd Tourism Alliance Awards will be held in conjunction with 7th International Travel Expo 2011 in Ho Chi Minh City, 13 September and for the first time Myanmar organisations will be honoured.

TAA awards debuted in 2009, but were first held along side the ITE in 2010. Originally, the awards were given to tourism professionals in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos while this year the scope has been extended to include Myanmar as the four countries are now allied to promote tourism under the slogan – Four Countries, One Destination.

There will be 10 ‘of the year’ awards to recognise tourism and hospitality industry professionals in the four participating countries; Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The awards will go to top restaurants, airlines, inbound travel operators, outbound travel operators, resort hotels, business hotels, luxury hotels, budget hotels, spa operators and travel writers. Presentations will be made at the Tourism Alliance Awards Gala Dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Tourism Alliance Awards (TAA) is co-organised by IIR Exhibitions, Vietnam Tourism Association, Cambodian Association of Travel Agents, Cambodia Hotel Association, Lao Association of Travel Agents, Myanmar Hotelier Association, Union of Myanmar Travel Association and supported by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, Laos National Tourism Administration and Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Sports and Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Tourism professionals can submit their entries in the relevant categories online by 1800, 22 August.

Saigon Tourist, TAA's 2010 winner, Best Inbound Tour Operator in Vietnam According to the ITE website, all entries will be judged on their contribution to tourism growth and service excellence in the respective industries. Each category will have an individual winner representing Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
