Phuket will gain a new attraction with the opening of Siam Niramit Phuket, due to open at the southern island resort in time for the New Year holiday season.

A soft opening is scheduled for the new theatre, 15 December and if that goes well the theme park will fully operational for the New Year.

“The show will be identical to Siam Niramit in Bangkok,” said Siam Niramit Phuket director of sales, Supreecha Suthamanon. “But in addition to national culture we will add performances showing Andaman lifestyle.”

Around Bt1.5 to Bt2 billion has been invested in the project, which is being developed on 83,200 sqm plot of land, 30 km from Phuket Airport.

The attraction will have three zones; a theater with up to 2,000 seats, a Thai village and a restaurant capable of accommodating up to 1,000 persons.

It will face tough competition from Phuket Fantasy and theme parks that attempt to draw tourists from western coast resorts for evening entertainment.

The challenge for all attractions and theme parks is to convince tourists who visit Phuket to soak up beach life and chill out in the evenings at beachside restaurants and bars.

Theme parks have to invest heavily in advertising campaigns and need to pay tour companies and guides a 30% cut of the entrance fee to convince their clients to book a seat.

Siam Niramit Phuket will start a single 70-minute show daily priced at Bt399 for local residents, while tourists will be asked to pay Bt1,800 to Bt2,500 depending on the seat category. A buffet dinner served at the park’s restaurant costs an additional Bt350.

The entrance fee includes transfers from hotels on the west coast and is pitched high to cover the commission to guides, tour companies and sightseeing counters at hotels.
