Vietnamese culture to spotlight in Japan

For those in Japan who love Vietnamese culture a host of cultural activities and artistic performances at the Vietnam Culture-Tourism Festival 2012 is scheduled to be held in Tokyo and the prefecture of Fukuoka from September 11 to 20 this year.

The festival is a part of the country’s efforts to promote cultural exchange with Japan. It will introduce Vietnamese culture to the Japanese in general and also the Vietnamese community. The event is expected to create a foundation for improved cooperation in other fields between the two nations.

The festival will feature various traditional artistic performances and fashion shows staged by a company of over 22 Vietnamese artists, musicians and performers. In addition, a photo exhibition themed “ Vietnam – The lasting beauty” will showcase a number of photos boasting the beauty of the Vietnamese country, people, cultural heritage sites and handicraft products.

The spotlight will be on a culinary area, named “Meet Vietnam”, with over 70 booths introducing Vietnamese cuisine from different localities.

Held first in 2008, the event, the fifth of its kind, has now become an important festival helping to consolidate friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan . It is also in response to the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 2013.
